The Bundesliga champions were willing to break the bank to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Wirtz this summer, however, they have now given up on the midfielder after conceding defeat to Liverpool in the transfer race. Per the , Bayern have now shifted their focus to Crystal Palace hero Eberechi Eze as they look for other options to strengthen Vincent Kompany's squad.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder's release clause, which is set at £60 million ($81m) plus £8m in add-ons, is set to be activated at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. Bayern, who share a good relationship with Palace following the transfer of Michael Olise last year, remain hopeful that they will be able to secure the England international's signature.
