In Chelsea's UEFA Women's Champions League match against FC Twente on Wednesday, U.S. international Catarina Macario bagged her first goal in the competition for the Blues – and her first in more than years since she won the final in 2022 with French side Lyon.
The USWNT striker, after a bit of pinball in the box, managed to strike home a close-range volley to hand the an early 1-0 lead in the match just two minutes into the contest.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Since her move to the London-based club in the summer of 2022, Macario has dealt with a handful of injuries — including a gruesome ACL tear that sidelined her for 641 days until March, 2024. However, a few knocks in recent months have prevented her from getting a consistent run of minutes.
Notably, though, she's started to find herself on the pitch more of late, and is nearing her best form once again. In 135 minutes this WSL season, she has one goal and two assists across five appearances, while Wednesday marked her second UWCL cameo of the season.
